To the person (or AI agent) that made the poster for the Bangor Queen City Comic Expo….I would like to ask a question…

I digress… I didn’t see the poster before agreeing to be at the table representing Lick, Stick, Suck, and Swallow. It wouldn’t have changed a thing.. What an ego trip.. How do you people even put up with me? I can hardly stand myself right now…… Before I say another word about myself as an ‘actor’ I need to qualify something for my brother, who I expect will eventually read this, and to every single other legitimate actor who has the skill, the ability, and the chutzpah to really act. To go on stage and strip down to raw emotion. I’ve seen it a few times and it’s impressive. … To you I say, I don’t deserve this attention (not that there was much), but any.. I’m not a real actor.. I just got lucky. I very much respect your profession and field.

With that out of the way, …I did have fun (a lot of fun) with make-up and make-believe for a few days. But it was the people like Denise Roy (She plays my wife …. SHE is a real actor, she’s damn good.. You’re all going to see how good she is), …Jason and Matt (Shane’s arms and legs)… and, most of all, Shane (Grant), the writer/director/creative force behind it all. All credit goes to them and the other REAL actors and professionals that made the film. I’m just a tourist along for the ride and loving every minute.

So.. the table. If I’m being honest, ..and I try to always be honest, .. not much happened. I spent a lot of time getting a slide-show to work on a laptop that not very many people saw.

But I DID see (Vic & Ashlee’s) Kaleigh…She was looking amazing as Storm (X-Men ‘97 style). Fans of my Rabid Gorilla videos would know her as the little girl singing the Misfits song “skulls” and many other appearances. If you watch the videos chronologically, you watch her growing up. Seeing her was the best part of the day. She didn’t know I was going to be there and her reaction to seeing me was sincere happiness. When that happens, ..well… it just feels damn good. Kaylee if you’re reading…Thanks!

The beautiful and talented Denise Roy, (who is my wife in the movie), … she is also an incredible make-up artist. Later in the afternoon, she made up Jason Hall and… well…

I owe quite a bit to Shane. In my latest intro video for this site (What’s In The Box?), I say that I’m ready to be discovered. Truth be told, it already happened when Shane sent that first email at the beginning of the year. (see: https://davecolbert.com/lick-stick-stuck-and-swallow-part-1/)

That was a mojor turning point in my life. I thought I was in a pretty good place in January (that’s when he first contacted me), ..I was okay. I was surviving. But I wasn’t living up to my full potential. Pardon my ego again but, shit… I’m damn cool, dammit.

That realization was the catalyst to creating this davecolbert.com website and this website has led me to revitalize Rabid Gorilla.

And that’s now led to something bigger and better than anything I’ve ever done before… (more on that later.. It’s a secret).

So …. In closing, let me apologize ahead of time…. I realize that when this film is widely released I will become unbearable. None of you are going to want to be around me for a while after that. You will get sick of the adoring fans constantly running up to me for autographs. ($10 for a head-shot. $20 for a signed view-master reel.)… I’ll miss you but I’ll get over it by having crazy sex parties with all my groupies… Somehow, I’ll get by.
