A brand represents ‘something’, but when I came up with the name and logo for Rabid Gorilla, I didn’t know what it was going to represent. I just knew that if I was going to walk around with a logo on my clothes, it was going to be for my own company…. not Nike or Harley Davidson or any other company I didn’t believe in.
Over the years, I like to think, it has come to represent sharing music. It is my dream, my goal, my intention, to expand that into sharing all forms of media. Music, Series, Movies, Volumetric Displays, Drone Shows… so many more and the formats yet to come.
This Vision Statement:
The Rabid Gorilla Intention
- Rabid Gorilla is the most celebrated, respected, and influential media company operating in the world.
- Profits of the company are donated to charities dedicated to supporting the creative arts.
- Artists and employees will be generously compensated for their work and their time.
- Ownership and control of the company will be established in such a way as to protect the company’s social mission in perpetuity.
Inspiration:
Paul Newman, after becoming one the most popular (and talented) movie stars in the world, .. after becoming a race car driver (because he loved it).. After that.. He and a friend entered a salad dressing into a contest being judged by Martha Stewart. They won the contest with the recipe that we now know as Newman’s Own.
That was 1982 and Paul didn’t need the money. So, he set it up so that all of Newman’s Own after tax profits are donated to charity.
Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, before being taken over by greedy capitalists, did incredible work in their communities and were a model of corporate social responsibility. I intend, with the proper assistance, to establish a ‘trust’ or some kind of legal protection so that Rabid Gorilla will never be able to ‘sell out’.
Someday the company profits will flow into a charity which I would like to ‘give back’ to the music scene. Music scholarships and providing musical instruments for under-privileged kids…. That kinda stuff.

This is a fund that was set up by the friends and family of J. Scott Brandon, … a friend who died way too soon. He loved music and so, in an effort to keep his spirit alive, his friends and family started this project.
