“May you live in interesting times.” English expression/Chinese curse
I didn’t expect to write about my life. I’m not exceptional, I haven’t traveled extensively, I don’t know many people, not very smart, and I don’t have any grand achievements to my name. However, I have lived through the most interesting times since… well, since before I was born. In utero, mankind took to the Moon for the first time, and then there was Woodstock, and the beginning of Sesame Street. And since my birth I’ve witnessed what life was like before Star Wars, the coming of the Computer Age, the fall of Communism in Europe, the September 11th attacks, the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the internet, and now, Artificial Intelligence, the rise of Trump, and the subsequent death of The United States of America that I know and once loved.
A book is probably in order, but the thought of writing a book scares me. It sounds like a lot of work. And then there’s that scene in The Time Machine… all books will eventually turn to dust. But digital?…..A website will grant me immortality, … as long as someone keeps the server going. Therefore, I will tell my life story in a website. I’ve built them in the past, that’s more my speed, and using tags, pictures, videos and links, I can tell a more complete tale than I could using a linear format. I’m going to write about the movies, music, and television that was not only a huge part of my life but about the American zeitgeist as well.
These are a few pictures I’ve made over the years.
